It's not that a ten year old can climb and run and jump around all day long and it takes you fifteen minutes just to put your shoes on in the morning.

This diminishing ability to protect and repair our cells as we get older is inevitable and progressive and systemic inflammation increases as a result. The word "inflammaging" was coined to describe this process and it explains perfectly why what we once thought were unrelated diseases like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, joint and bone diseases, skin and eye disorders, and Alzheimer's Disease are more prevalent as we get older.

Close your eyes and think back to when you were 20 years old. You could put in a full day at work or school, go for a two-hour mountain hike before sunset, and go disco dancing ‘til the wee hours. Then you'd hop into bed and fall asleep immediately. While you slept, your body performed hundreds of microscopic miracles, repairing the day's wear and tear. The next morning, you jumped out of bed, raring to go again. You didn't even notice the wear and tear, because it was already fixed.

These days … not so much.

Even if you could go all day long with barely a chance to catch your breath, you wouldn't be able to get out of bed the next morning. That's because your body isn't protecting and repairing itself nearly as well as it used to.

Plus, as you age, your body's inflammatory defenses have kicked into high gear. Inflammation is normally a good thing. When you sprain your ankle, it swells up and becomes painful, thanks to inflammation. That painful inflammation is your body's way of telling you to stay off it while it heals.

But for most of us, as we get older, our inflammation "thermostat" tends to get turned up higher and stays that way. Our inflammatory response is kicked into overdrive. When it stays high for too long, cellular damage begins to occur. That's "inflammaging." And inflammaging destroys your health.

In fact, the Harvard Health Letter in April, 2006 stated "The four horseman of the medical apocalypse –coronary artery disease, diabetes, cancer, and Alzheimer’s Disease-may be riding the same steed: inflammation." What’s more, the article stated “Chronic inflammation often stays under the patient’s and doctor’s radar”.

These seemingly unrelated conditions are, in fact, all the result of chronic low grade inflammation, or "inflammaging”. That’s why “inflammaging” is the most serious health threat we face as we age.

Install thermal windows, and your windowsills won't sweat and start to grow mold.
